Multigenerational community living. This community group is "living out their dream" ("Lebenstraum" literally means "life dream") by building and living out an ecologically sound project together.
The community is meant to extend beyond just organizing and planning the building project. The building community, which will later become a WEG (a legal partnership of apartment owners), is aiming to foster the basic human needs for individuality, interaction and belonging in order to counter the typical, socially isolated life often found in the city. Among the core values of the project is keeping the settlement free of automobiles, continuing to cultivate it ecologically, and creating a sense of being close to nature. The goal of the building community is to sustain a lively community life including both young and old in the later living phase of the project, and this greater purpose will be fostered through the conscious creation of private and public spaces. In this way, personal needs to set boundaries and find solitude will be respected as much as social interaction.
Special building goals:
We're creating a tiny village by building a ring of wooden houses. The houses will use very little energy and will be built from ecological materials such as wood, clay, bricks, glass and metal. We do not need many paved areas around the houses, and they will be developed to look as natural as possible, with stone paths, play areas, ponds, grass and various plant zones dominating. We will avoid using carbon dioxide as much as possible by means of a wooden pellet heating system, and we will reduce our water usage by 50% by using a gray water purification method.
