R4-Wohnen am Volkspark ("R4 - Living near the park") is a modern, multiple-story house in the area of the Volkspark Mariendorf ("Mariendorf Public Park"). A few defining characteristics of the house: It has individual floorplans, is community-oriented, has an energy-saving basic concept and is wheelchair-friendly. The plans have already been made to such an extent that they are ready to be carried out by an interested building-and-living community; that community will also be able to define and optimize the Richterstr. 4 project according to their own particular interests.
The goal of the group is to erect a house where communal, interconnected living goes without saying, but which simultaneously preserves private spaces to withdraw and be alone in the owner-designed apartments. A large garden area belongs to the house as well and is largely meant to be cultivated communally.
Richterstr. 4 is right near the Volkspark Mariendorf in Berlin's Mariendorf borough. The Teltowkanal ("Teltow Canal") is also just a few minutes away by foot. At the Tempelhofer Hafen ("Tempelhof Harbor"), right on the Teltowkanal, a shopping center has just been built that offers cultural opportunities and a pleasant place to while away some leisure time. Just a bit further away is the Ullsteinhaus and the Ufa Fabrik, with further cultural events and leisure activities available. To the south you can find the Trabrennbahn Mariendorf ("Mariendorf Harness Racetrack"). There are many preschools, kindergartens and schools in the vicinity of Richterstr. 4, and the neighboring Wohnstift Dibelius caters to senior citizens. Since the U-Bahn subway station Alt-Mariendorf is just around the corner, the Berlin borough of Mitte is just 25 minutes away.
